Anne-Marie Watson, small business owner, marketer and mother of two, is the brainchild behind Southside Marketing Solutions, an Australian marketing consultancy firm based in Sydney whose customers are small-medium sized enterprises.

 

Anne-Marie comes from a long career in sales and marketing roles in small and large blue chip companies. Southside Marketing Solutions was started in 2004 to meet the needs of Start-Up & existing small businesses which she began to encounter in her other healthcare consultancy business.

 

Most business owners don't have time to have detailed lessons in Strategic Marketing…. they need quick, effective and easy-to-implement ideas that are based on sound marketing principles. I decided to start Southside Marketing Solutions when I saw that there were many business operators who needed some cost-effective marketing guidance, whether they are a Start Up or an existing business.”

 

She has previously presented to BEC audiences including the BEC Marketing Forum and the BEC Stepping Up program, as well as the MTA Business Growth Expos, NIA accounting audiences and at her own successful TakeOff Business series.

 

Anne-Marie enjoys giving presentations and her lively style gains audience attention and is highly memorable.

 

Writing articles for small businesses on how to market their products has now become her latest passion. Her website features many articles, tips and tools on small business marketing.

 

Anne-Marie Has a Bachelor of Science degree majoring in Microbiology and Biochemistry (U Syd), A Master of Business degree in Marketing (UTS) and is currently enrolled in a part-time Bachelor of Arts distance learning program studying archaeology.

Five basic tips on ‘How to succeed online’:

  • Have a solid plan before you start: draw up a site map showing all levels and links planned. 
  • Make sure you can reach anywhere in the site in 3 clicks or less.
  • Make sure each of your pages are fast loading i.e. take 3 secs or less. 
  • Put critical information on the front page-don't make it hard to find.
  • Make your design easy on the eye and easy to read by picking the right fonts. Basic fonts are the best!
