Instore traffic being increasingly driven by mobile While online shopping is still increasing rapidly, most shopping purchases are still conducted offline. Mobile usage however is contributing significantly though to store traffic, with 70% of consumers using an online source before visiting a local business or restaurant. The majority of consumers use Google (43%) or online Yellow Pages(30%).Other sources include Facebook (12%) or review sites (13%), while 17% of users referred to the first weblink on the search results page. The value of sales reflected by online search is substantive according to an eMarketer spokesperson, and only likely to increase as retailers view smartphones with significant importance in driving store traffic. | |
