Pinterest could be key for retailers, study says

Pinterest is now the third most popular social networking site in the U.S. and could help foster "meaningful connections" between retailers and consumers according to a new 2012 Digital Marketer report from Experian. Pinterest attracted 21.5 million visits in the week ending January 28, 2012 - nearly 30 times the number of total visits six months before.

Pinterest is reported to have a female skew with 60 percent of the site's users being female, and 55 percent between 25 and 44 years old.The data may indicate that Pinterest visitors have a different profile versus their counterparts visiting other social networking sites such as Facebook and YouTube (17% vs. 5%).
